Our goal is to promote firearms training. Let's roll!

(2005-08-06) Shooting Range Closing: Ventura, CA
After a series of complaints about 'noise' and 'lead pollution' by a few (and I mean a few) residents of Ventura, the City Council has decided to close the shooting range. Expert testimony in front of the council made it clear that lead was not seeping into ground outside the confines of the range and that the noise level was below that of traffic, barking dogs and children playing. Public support for the range was extensive, with supporters greatly outnumbering the few wishing to see the range closed. As of January 1, 2006, the citizens and law enforcement officers of Ventura County will now have no local place for firearms practice or to receive training to improve their safety and proficiency skills.

Is this really in the public interest? Will this happen to your local range soon?
(2003-01-20) John Farnam's CCW Class!
John Farnam Vik has just completed John Farnam's CCW class hosted by TacFire. The Farnam class consisted of one evening in the classroom for ethics and concepts education followed by two long days of skill builders. Mr. Farnam's style reflects on his broad experience as a warrior and he does not hold back about regaling the class with lessons learned in the field. The fact is, Mr. Farnam devotes as much effort to shaping the student's attitude as well as skills. We learned a great deal about what to expect in armed combat encounters and what to do after the combat portion of it has ended.

Our class consisted of 25 somewhat experienced shooters. Because our previous courses had covered the basics of drawing from the holster, clearing feed problems, etc. Mr. Farnam was able to move along into advanced techniques. We believe his firearm retention and disarm techniques to be especially valuable. They were not taught in any CCW or Defensive Handgun course we had attended previously.

Our class was very enthusiastic about Mr. Farnam's course and has requested that he return for advanced rifle training.
